NEW* The implementation of the National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) was extended by HUD to October 1, 2025. NSPIRE Standards for Carbon Monoxide Alarms and NSPIRE Smoke Alarm standard still apply during this extension. HUD requires that by December 29, 2024, smoke alarms must be either hard-wired or sealed 10-year battery alarms.
