* The implementation of the National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) has been extended by HUD to February 1, 2027. NYCHA will continue to follow Housing Quality Standards for inspections. NSPIRE Standards for
Carbon Monoxide Alarms
and
Smoke Alarms
will still apply during this extension. HUD requires smoke alarms to be either hard-wired or sealed 10-year battery alarms.
